Prof. Michael Arthur Murphy

Introduction:
Prof. Michael Arthur Murphy stands as a distinguished figure within the realm of vascular and endovascular surgery, currently holding the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCD School of Medicine.
Education and Training:
Upon graduating from University College Dublin (UCD) in 1993, Prof. Murphy completed basic surgical training in Ireland. He progressed to specialization in vascular surgery at the University of Oxford, where he completed his specialist training. It is noteworthy that during his tenure at Oxford, he also served the institution as a Clinical Lecturer in Surgery. Prof. Murphy's academic acumen was further exemplified by his groundbreaking research in venous disease, a pursuit that culminated in his conferral of an MD from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI).
Professional Experience:
Following the completion of an endovascular fellowship in Australia, Prof. Murphy assumed the role of Consultant at Central University Hospitals in Manchester. Since 2010, Prof. Murphy has been an integral member of the Beacon Hospital Vascular Department, where he applies his expertise by providing comprehensive venous and arterial, open, and endovascular services. His practice encompasses the nuanced diagnosis and adept treatment of many conditions, including varicose veins, leg ulcers, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms, and peripheral arterial disease. Prof. Murphy has exceptional expertise in treating varicose veins with endovenous laser; he has performed over 14000 cases, making him one of the most experienced surgeons in his field.

Prof. Murphy prioritizes patient comfort and fast recovery, which is reflected in his utilization of minimally invasive techniques whenever viable. He has exceptional expertise in endovascular procedures, including endovenous laser treatments.

Biography
Sharon is a qualified Physician Associate who completed her Master's degree in Physician Associate Studies at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Physician Associates are healthcare professionals trained in the medical model who work alongside consultants and doctors to assess patients, take medical histories, perform examinations, request and interpret investigations, and support patient management. Sharon is passionate about delivering high quality, patient-centred care and helping patients navigate their vascular health journey.
